Steps to use Avatar

  1. Select search field  

EST frequency :Number of supporting EST observations for the splice sites.

"Gene Name or Gene Alias": the gene symbol and gene name approved by NCBI(e.g. TNNT1, CD44).
"mRNA Accession & mRNA gi": mRNA Accession and mRNA gi approved by NCBI.
"Definition": the GenBank accession number. 
"Human and Mouse Cytoband": the cytogenetic location of a gene (e.g. 1p36, 1q20, etc).
"chromosome": Chromosome number (e.g. chromosome 22).
"UniGene id": A unique UniGene identifier for mRNA/EST sequences. from GeneBank.

All the search is case insensitive. 
Query against cytogenetic locations
Human: use the "n[p|q]n" format (e.g. 3p16, 22q12, etc)
Mouse: e.g. "9 20" means position 20 cM on chromosome #9
